Today we get up early again because we have planned a visit to Walt Disney (Disney World). After much back and forth, we decided on EPCOT, the futuristic park. There are now four parks in Disney World Orlando, including Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Disney's Hollywood. Together, the parks have an annual visitor count of around 40 million. They charge an entrance fee of $100 per person.
Before we start, we have a big breakfast because the food prices in the park are outrageous and the food is terrible. We also prepare sandwiches to have provisions with us. After the usual parking fee of $20, there is an additional entrance fee of $108 to be paid. A family of four pays over $400 for admission and food, because the Americans don't bring lunch like we do :-)
We immediately go for the first attraction, a journey through time and technology, which is exciting and attractive. Although it is the first attraction of the day, it remains the best until the end.
Second, we take a test ride in a car. This is followed by a simulation of a Mars landing, which is also adventurous. However, all the remaining attractions leave much to be desired. Either they are more for children or for the mentally retarded Americans (as Marco likes to say). They mainly talk about different energy generation systems or environmental problems - honestly, it's old news for us, but for most people here, it's a renewal of their worldview.
We also learn that Americans are very enthusiastic and like to applaud at every little thing :-) After 7 hours in the park, we leave. Unfortunately, Disney World did not convince us at all and only cost us a lot... Anyway, we are looking forward to a football night and some good food. We go to Miller's Ale House and stay there for a few hours.
