The day of cycling began with a brief farewell to Lake Achensee and 400 meters of steep gravel road downhill to Jenbach. The brakes glowed. The Inn River surprises with a high flow velocity. The water is cold and chalky-turbid. There is a small ice break in Wattens at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds. The cycle path is always by the river in the Inn Valley, but also close to the railway or motorway. In the old town of Innsbruck, we stop at the Golden Roof - a late Gothic bay window with 2,657 fire-gilded copper shingles. We only stay there briefly because we still have the steepest part of the tour ahead of us. We climb with our bikes from 574 to 998 meters in altitude over a distance of 9km. A very special experience. We are rewarded with a great view of the entrance to the Stubai Valley for dinner and sit in the sun at 25 degrees.
