Waiheke Island and Devonport 🛳

Publikuar: 11.11.2018

Hello dear ones🤗

I had two days full of action!
On the first day, I went to Waiheke Island. I had heard from other travelers that it is a beautiful island. Unfortunately, it was raining in the morning and it didn't get better as time went on, and there was also strong wind.
Equipped with an umbrella and a rain jacket, I went to the harbor and took a ferry to Waiheke Island, which took about 40 minutes. When I arrived there, I walked to the places I wanted to see using the map.
I'm not sure if I had bad luck with the weather or if the island is just not my type, but I didn't like it as much as other backpackers did. However, the views and hikes were really nice, but also very tiring.

(By the way, that's a normal mountain or path you sometimes do in New Zealand)

The waves on the way back were getting stronger and it was quite rocky.

The next day, I went to Devonport. The umbrella and rain jacket were replaced with sunscreen and sunglasses.
And what can I say: Devonport is so beautiful! There wasn't much to see, so it was a half-day trip, but it was definitely worth it.

At first, I walked up Mount Victoria and had my second breakfast at the top. With a view that I hadn't experienced before. On one side was the skyline of Auckland, with many high-rise buildings, and on the other side, I could see Rangitoto Island.

I spent my conclusion on a beach! I lay in the sand for almost two hours, with the sound of the sea and the sun on my skin. It was really amazing!

By the way, in New Zealand, it is typical to clean your shoes before and after entering a national park or hiking trail at a shoe cleaning station. This is what it looks like:
