New Jersey - Housesit in South Orange

Our second house sit started last Tuesday (November 21st, 2023). We currently live in South Orange, a suburb of New York, New Jersey. Here we live in Ben and his family's house and look after the sweet cat Mau. Mau is super easy to care for. Our job is to feed him morning and evening and cuddle with him - that's it. He has a cat flap and can go in and out as he pleases. We also have to water the flowers every three days. We couldn't have gotten a better house sit! At this point it should be mentioned that getting sits is not that easy. There are many applications for an ad and only one gets accepted. Especially now in the run-up to Christmas and around Thanksgiving there are a lot of advertisements, but also a lot of applications.

It takes us 45 minutes from our accommodation to Manhattan (including walking and taking the train). That's really great!

South Orange is a really nice place. The streets and houses are beautifully decorated for Christmas. There are also many small shops that invite you to stroll. We really enjoy our time here!

As of today we can say “we’re flying home next week”. It's SO beautiful, but there's also sadness in it. We receive a lot of messages from our loved ones, who are all very excited to see us. For us it was an indescribably beautiful feeling to be expected with so much love.

Today we picked up our car because our road trip starts tomorrow. We booked the car with Hertz. Picking up was very uncomplicated and we could simply choose our car ourselves in the parking garage. Next stop: Niagara Falls.

A few minutes ago we got the confirmation for our third house sit at very short notice. We're looking after two dogs in Washington this coming weekend. This promise came to us because we wanted to spend the weekend in Washington anyway.
