We are twwoooo! 😍

01/03/2018: Oh how lovely that was. You arrive in a foreign city, check into the hostel, go to your room and see a friend you haven't seen in over half a year. 😍

We had a super nice first day in Wellington! We explored the city on foot, went to the Botanic Gardens, had lunch by the sea, visited the museum in the afternoon, and went to the cinema in the evening. It couldn't have been better! 🤗 The weather was fantastic too. Here are a few photos:

The city is absolutely crazy. It has a bit of everything - but above all, no real structure. 😅 People here jump into the water day and night and there are hardly any cars on the road - all things I would have expected to be different in a big city. I'm soooo happy that Sina is here!!!

02/03/2018: Yes, today was my birthday. ☺️ This is the first time I have a birthday in autumn, it feels totally crazy. And of course, being unable to be at home with my family. But all the more beautiful when you have a good friend who hugs you in the morning on behalf of everyone else. 🤗♥️

After breakfast, we walked to Mount Victoria, a hill about half an hour away from our hostel in the city center, which offers a great view. We also met someone up there who I had already met in Rotorua. 😄 Very surreal.

Afterwards, we took the bus to the "Weta Cave". This is the place where, among other things, the Lord of the Rings movies were worked on. It's a kind of workshop where props and costumes, especially weapons and armor, are lovingly made for all sorts of films. So we could admire original props from the Lord of the Rings movies, that was pretty cool!!! For example, the silicone feet of a hobbit. 😄

We even got to fight trolls. 💪🏻😋

In the evening, we went to an open-air theater and watched Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors", a comedy of mistaken identity. It was pretty cool! 😍 The whole thing took place in a parking lot in the middle of the city.

Afterwards, we met up with the two New Zealanders I had met on the Alpine Crossing hike and toasted to my birthday.

All in all, it was a very eventful and beautiful day! Tomorrow we are heading to the South Island - we are excited! Thanks for all your lovely wishes!!♥️♥️♥️
