Tag 13 - Red Cliff Campground

The alarm went off at 5:30 a.m. today and after a quick coffee we went on the kayak tour. In the bay in front of Byron Bay there are not only tons of surfers, but also occasionally dolphins, whales and turtles. So we went out on the water at 6:45 a.m., although the temperatures were still within limits.

Unfortunately, we and the other participants didn't get to see any marine mammals, but we still had a lot of fun kayaking and saw the coast from a different side.

Back at the camper, a technical problem with the water pump had to be solved before we could set off for the lighthouse. This is still in operation today and is located just a few meters from the easternmost point of mainland Australia.

Afterwards we wanted to stop by the center again, as many of the small shops had already closed the evening before and we wanted to satisfy our shopping addiction - successfully.

For the next night we decided on a parking space in the Yuraygir National Park and quickly completed the 120km route. When we arrived at the parking space, we were surprised by a dozen kangaroos, which were calmly eating the fresh grass along the side of the road.

So we quickly parked the camper and spent the next two hours watching the many kangaroos in the park. The animals live completely freely here, come to the coast to eat and were hardly afraid of the campers present. We didn't want to get too close to the animals either, as there were also many younger kangaroos there.

During the evening walk to the cliff, two whales suddenly appeared on the horizon and were playing - fantastic!

Dinner was then served in the immediate vicinity of the kangaroos, who were still busy eating.
