After picking up our rental car at noon, we headed north on Highway 99.
Here, the journey is the destination, as the winding Hwy 99 is also known as the 'Sea to Sky' highway and passes through stunning landscapes.
We reached Lillooet in the evening after passing through Squamish and Whistler.
Lillooet is a small town with around 2,500 residents, with the charm of a sleeping Wild West town :-) - it's hard to believe that Lillooet was the second-largest city after San Francisco in the 1860s with approximately 20,000 residents during the peak of the gold rush.
Starting from Mile 0 on Main Street in Lillooet, all distances were measured on the 'Cariboo Wagon Road', the supply route for gold miners.
