Day 9 - heading south across the Arctic Circle

Publikuar: 09.07.2017

The weather was fine on this day, there wasn't much sunshine, but also relatively little rain. The route is amazingly beautiful, with lots of curves, tunnels, and breathtaking views.

Due to the bad weather and especially the forecasted bad weather, I decided to follow the course of the E6 road south (instead of originally planned coastal route). Along this route, there was even a ferry, which is still relatively cheap for a motorcycle at €8.

At around half past 10, I wanted to find a camping site, but the first one was already full and there was no one at the reception of the second one. Although you could fill out an envelope and still stay there, you would need cash for that, and so far I have only paid with a credit card. So I continued south. Although the Arctic Circle had already been crossed again, it still doesn't get dark here, which is really great for motorcycling. So I rode until around half past 1 heading south until I set up my tent at a rest area. Thanks to the "right of access" in Norway, you can camp wherever you want here (except for private properties as far as I know). That's why this entry is a bit delayed 😉

The total distance covered was 850 km in one day, a new record for me on a motorcycle. I'm currently unable to transfer the route and the pictures, they will be added later in the evening.

Today's expenses:

€50 for petrol

€20 for food

€8 for the ferry
