Capilano Suspension Bridge

Alarm clock 6:15 a.m. One by one we went to the bathroom, packed our bags, had breakfast together and then it was goodbye Calgary, hello Vancouver. From Calgary we took Air Canada in 1.5 hours to Vancouver, our next stop on the trip. Checking in etc. went so far without any major problems. Andi had to take his backpack completely apart, I had to throw away my good ice packs, but otherwise...
Once we landed in Vancouver we took the airtrain to the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver. We were able to check in straight away and move into our room on the 10th floor. Small but nice. We took a short break and then, driven by hunger, we headed to the Pacific Center. The food court was examined there, everyone found something and everyone was satisfied. On my list for Vancouver I have the Capilano Suspension Bridge. We learned from our tour guide Stefan that this and the park around it would be illuminated for the last time today. Probably a campaign like our Triberg Christmas Magic. Andi wasn't really up for it, Jörg and I made our way there or to the bus stop to catch one of the free shuttles. Our first port of call was the stop at the Haytt Hotel. Somehow we couldn't really find what we were looking for, so we called Jürgen, who also wanted to go there. We learned from him that we were in the right place, but that all the buses arrive full and nothing really works. Okay, then off to Canada Plaza, another bus stop. We were lucky there. A bus was there and was still pretty empty. On the way to the bridge I quickly ordered tickets from GetyourGuide, everything was fine. As already mentioned, the shuttle to the park/bridge is free, but the park costs up to €70, depending on where you get the tickets. But thank God ours weren't that expensive. Swabians 🤷🏼‍♀️.
The Capilano Suspension Bridge is a simple, 140 m long and 70 m high suspension bridge over the Capilano River. On the entrance side of the park there is a totem path, various boards with information about the bridge and the park, the cliff walk, a shop and a restaurant, and on the other side there is Treetops Adventures. Here you can walk through the park and admire nature on wooden walkways. There are also 7 suspension bridges between old Douglas firs, some of which allow you to walk through the park up to 30 m above the ground. Really beautifully laid out. And it's still really beautifully lit today. It doesn't look that way in the pictures, but we saw it live😊
Jürgen and a few others from the tour group also followed Stefan's recommendation and everyone we spoke to was thrilled. It was just a shame that we were so late and it got dark quite quickly. Sure, it's good for the lights, but unfortunately when we finished the Cliff Walk there wasn't much left to see. The Cliff Walk here is 213 m long and leads at various levels, some 30 stories high, along narrow paths and viewing platforms along the rock face of the Capilano River. It's a shame, but I could easily imagine spending a few days here in this corner in the summer 😇😅
We then strolled through the shop a bit before heading back to the shuttle. We were lucky, we got a seat on the first shuttle that came. What I haven't even mentioned yet, we have a 32° temperature difference here in Vancouver compared to Thursday in Calgary 😅 And just from -16° yesterday to +10° today it's, simply calculated, 26°. Unfortunately, this also means that instead of snow there is a lot of rain. Well, you're not stuck in the weather. On the way back into town we met up with Andi in front of the hotel. Then we went to Malone's Taphouse together. A nice bar with a lot of different beers to choose from and iced tea was also available😉 Tommy, also from our travel group, joined us later and together we spent our first evening in Vancouver until the last round at Malone's.
