Strong rain was forecasted for today on the North Island, well let's see what comes.
In the morning in Taupo it is cloudy but still dry; so off to Rotorua.
Here I make a short stop and visit the Ohinemutu Village of the Maori. At this time there is no one here and unfortunately all the buildings are still closed.
Next stop is the Te Waihou Blue Spring, a source with particularly pure water. The clarity of the water is really impressive.
Then continue towards Tauranga to climb Mount Maunganui and get an overview of the entire surroundings from above.
However, upon arrival, it unfortunately starts pouring rain, as it did partially along the way, and since the rain radar does not promise any real improvement, the plan is cancelled without replacement. I could have saved myself the effort - shit happens.
Now it's off to Hamilton, my accommodation for tonight. The city doesn't actually have much to offer, but tonight the local Gallagher Chiefs are playing against the Brumbies from Canberra (Australia) in the SuperRugby.
Kick-off is at 7:05 PM and I will be at the stadium about an hour earlier. The game is quite exciting and in the end the Brumbies win with 26 to 14 points.
