In love with Barcelona Part 1 - Park Güell, Hopp on Bus etc.

Publikuar: 30.08.2023

The caravan moves on… and so do I. On Sunday morning I set off for Barcelona. There was a heavy thunderstorm and heavy rain in the early hours of the morning, so I didn't set out until around 10 a.m. The journey was quite tiring, it was soooo windy. The motorhome jerked and wobbled but after a good 4 hours I arrived near Barcelona. I liked the campsite from the first moment. Actually the plan was to arrive and get into the pool. When the outside temperature was 18 degrees, I changed my mind. Even that night I was so cold, so I took a sleeping bag from the girls (it was almost 16 degrees in the motorhome, I actually wanted to turn on the heating at night😅).

The next morning we took the shuttle bus directly from the campsite (a journey cost just 3.90, a 40 minute journey) to the city of Barcelona. What can I say, I was in love, everything looked cool. I then immediately got on the hop on bus (my new hobby) and drove through Barcelona for 2 hours. Along the harbor, to the Olympic Park, past the Camp Nou or what's left of it, and much more. My plan was to get off at the starting point again and then take the other bus to, among other places, Park Güell because I had a ticket there for 2 p.m. I thought my plan was great, it was 12:15 p.m. and the bus took about an hour to get there. Unfortunately I had forgotten that the city is full of tourists and I wasn't the only one who wanted to go. A snake felt 300 meters long. So Plan B had to come. I asked Google and got on the metro, went 7 stops and I was almost there. Exactly, almost there. It felt like it was a very steep climb of 800 meters. It was no use, so I was up and panting and sweating like a walrus (at about 35 degrees) but I was at the top and just had to find the entrance. There was something that looked like an entrance, my ticket was shown and I was in. It continued upwards and I had the most beautiful view over Barcelona. It was so beautiful. There was a bench there, so I sat down and let it take in. Afterwards I took some nice pictures and videos.

I had to go down stairs after stairs (that's when I realized again, shit, my right knee still really hurts) and then I was on the platform in the park. It was really nice, a bit kitschy but nice. and And on the way back I took the bus that took me to the metro. Afterwards I walked around the city a bit to pass the time until the shuttle drove back to the campsite at 6 p.m. Happy but extremely exhausted, I went to bed early because the next day I had more highlights, a visit to the Sagrada Familia and the FC Barcelona Museum.

What that was like etc. will follow in part 2
