Chorrillos and Barranco

Publikuar: 04.12.2021

Today is Saturday, the 4th of December.

Yesterday we had a wonderful day. It started with sunshine, so I could try out the pool for the first time. At lunchtime, we were picked up for a dinner invitation in the district of Chorrillos. We actually spent 40 minutes on the way there, as the traffic is always heavy. The groom's father invited us as a thank you for the wedding last week. We are very impressed by his life story and his openness. He has been living here for 3 generations. We also got to know a young man who has been working at the YMCA for 4 years and - unfortunately - is now returning to Germany with his family. We immediately felt very close to him. The restaurant, like most here, was very rustic, but the food, mainly fish dishes, was unique and the atmosphere was great. We started with the famous Pisco Sour. Chile and Peru always argue about who has the best Pisco Sour. Despite our Chilean patriotism, we have to admit that the Peruvian one tastes even better. But we (Chileans) are ahead with the wine.

Since we wanted to meet Sandra and Carsten (Johannes' acquaintances) in the afternoon, our host dropped us off in the district of Barranco. They had praised this beautiful district to us - and really, we are thrilled. It's quite colorful there, more of an artist quarter with interesting pubs, music on the streets, and arts and crafts on every corner. And you have a wonderful view of the sea, where we could also enjoy the sunset. Barranco means gorge, and it extends to the sea in this district. It's incredible how well we got along, as if we had known each other for a long time.

You may feel how good we are doing here, and most of it is thanks to the people here. Even with the taxi driver who brought us back, we had a good conversation.
