Day 2: Short layover in Singapore

Publikuar: 27.06.2020

After arriving in Singapore, many passengers are sneezing and coughing (many boarded the plane in t-shirts, shorts, and flip flops and will have caught a cold now).

Almost in Singapore

Relieved, we leave the plane after arriving at Changi Airport and explore the airport! Wow - it's amazing!!!!

The 5 hours pass by in a flash. We visit the orchid gardens, sunflower terrace, butterfly house, and relax by the many koi ponds.

In between, there are PlayStation stations, chill areas, drawing tables for children, or funny animated video screens to interact with. We are totally amazed!!

We feel more like in a botanical garden than in an airport building. Amazing!!!

There is even a Sunflower Garden on the airport roof.

Wow, so many sunflowers!!!

The best thing, however, are the foot massage machines that are everywhere and can even be used completely free of charge. Before continuing our flight to Brisbane, we all sit completely relaxed at the gate and have our feet massaged. I need such a machine at home too! A dream!!!

Originally, we wanted to go swimming at the airport! There is actually a swimming pool on the airport roof. We thought that 5 hours of 'layover' would be more than enough, but at the information counter, we were told that the swimming pool is in another terminal and that would have been a bit tight. But we had a great alternative program!

There is also a cinema - if you have more than 5 hours to kill!

Our Singapore Airlines flight takes off on time at 9:30 pm towards Brisbane.
And we have much more space in the smaller plane than on the LH A380!
The food is delicious, and for dessert, we even get a Magnum ice cream. Everyone gets the obligatory pouch with thick socks, earplugs, and a sleeping mask. Again, it's quite cold in the plane, but in contrast to Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines has very thin but excellently warming fleece blankets (at the end of the flight, we end up with 2 blankets in our backpacks ;-)).
Since we are quite tired (it's our second overnight flight), we manage to sleep for about 4-5 hours of the 7.5-hour flight.

For the statistics:
Overnight: Night flight Singapore Airlines
Distance flown: 6,150 km
Time: 9:30 pm to 7:05 am
Flight duration: 7 hours 20 minutes
Conclusion: Changi Airport is the coolest airport I have ever seen!
