Today, Veronika and I went to Rimetrea by car. It is a beautifully located small village in the mountains. In Rimetrea, there is a children's home that recently had a fire. Fortunately, there was only property damage as all the children were in the basement. There seems to be a small volunteer fire brigade in Rimetrea, which is also poorly equipped. It took an hour for support from the nearest town to arrive. However, the fire was confined to the room and did not spread to the attic.
The cause of the fire was apparently a faulty mobile phone charger.
Veronika donated money to the facility manager Dodo for urgent restoration work.
We were invited for lunch before leaving and Veronika and I received a gift.
It's amazing to see how dedicated they are here to help the children.
During the return journey, the tire pressure monitor in the car went off. When we arrived back in Alba Julia, I checked the tire and found a screw stuck in the sidewall. I removed it and inserted a plug, and tomorrow we will go to the workshop. We might need a new tire, but maybe the Romanians are not so strict about patched tires. We shall see.
In the evening, we went out to eat with Maria and her husband. Maria is the director of the Caritas office here in Alba Julia. It was a really nice evening, with lots of laughter and good food.
