Gand Teton uye Steppe

Rakabudiswa: 26.10.2018

On Thursdays, we covered a considerable distance again.

In the morning, we visited a dam that broke in the 70s, causing a huge flood wave.

Afterwards, we wanted to enter the Grand Teton National Park through the west entrance. However, there was a sign at the entrance saying that the road would be closed at some point. And the cashier's booth was also unoccupied. So we just drove in without paying and thought we would see how far we could get, hoping to see some animals. The road was not paved and after about 10 km, it ended and we had to turn around and go around. The only animal we saw was a little spring mouse.

So we continued through Jackson and came to a visitor center. There is a winter reserve for deer, but there were none there yet.

Shortly after we started driving again, we finally saw bison, which are known as buffalo here. There were 6 of them standing in a field next to the road. 2 of them even fought a little.

Then we continued up a pass. It got colder and there was snow. Then we went down again and suddenly the landscape changed. No more trees and red rocks were now visible. A little further on, we came through the seemingly endless steppe. At about 1500 m above sea level, we drove through no man's land for hours, only to finally spend the night in Casper.
