Happy Quokkas happy me.

Rakabudiswa: 03.12.2019

Finally, I have met my beloved friends, the Quokkas, in real life 😍 I have been raving about these creatures to my friends and family for what feels like the past six months. The Quokkas always look happy, even when they are angry, although whether that is always a good thing is another question 😂. They roam around Rottnest Island, and you can only see them in their natural habitat there. You can only reach the island by ferry, and we also booked bicycles to explore it. But beware! At this time of year, there is a serious mosquito infestation! We felt like literal crap 💩, with thousands of flies landing directly on our faces or any other body openings 🤭, making it hard to breathe. We couldn't even ride the bicycles 🙈 It was so unbearable that after about 40 minutes, we decided to search for Happy Quokkas on foot.

Aside from the adorable animals, the island is a true paradise! The beaches are stunningly beautiful, and the water is crystal clear 😍 After a quick swim, we continued our search, and it paid off! There were Quokkas under almost every tree in the bush. The animals are always sleeping at noon, so we only spotted them in the afternoon. You're not allowed to pet or feed the animals. And rightly so! They are still wild animals, and even though they may look cute, they can behave differently!

Also, I don't have a rabies vaccine 🤭

It's also important to respect the animals' space!

So just be patient, because normally the animals come to you. It's not always easy to get a good photo, as the animals are agile and not trained for selfies 😉 Luckily, I managed to snap a few shots. It was a successful day for me, and I am happy to have seen my Quokkas 😍.
