The city has captured our hearts! Melbourne has been named the most livable city in the world for 7 consecutive years (currently in second place behind Vienna), and now we know why. While the city may not have a landmark like the Sydney Opera House or the Harbour Bridge, there is so much to experience in its breadth.
We extended our planned stay twice because we loved it so much. Our highlights during this time were: the Brunswick neighborhood with its bar and restaurant scene, the unique architecture of the colorful skyscrapers, the cityscape with the juxtaposition of old and new buildings amidst many parks and street art, the art gallery, the wide international selection of authentic food, a street food festival, and attending a rehearsal and performance of Cinderella by the Australian Ballet.
After 5 days, we reluctantly leave the city, but we will definitely be back :)
