Sonnenaufgang im Reisfeld

Rakabudiswa: 01.05.2017

When the alarm clock rings at 5 o'clock, it is still dark as we hop on the scooter. During the ride, it starts to dawn and when we reach the start of the "Campuhan Ridge Walk" 15 minutes later, the sun rises. We read on the internet that the path is particularly recommended at sunrise, and we can definitely confirm that. Firstly, there are only a manageable number of tourists here at this time (but you can meet some locals doing their morning exercise), and secondly, the temperature is still pleasant.

The path offers beautiful views over the rice fields adjacent to the jungle in Ubud. The light of the sunrise gives the whole scenery that certain something extra.

After the walk in the rice fields, we head towards the city. In the early morning, the center is mainly populated by locals who do their daily shopping at the market. For breakfast, we go to Seeds of Life, where we treat ourselves to a juice with beetroot, pineapple, apple, carrot and ginger, the SOL Jar and chocolate banana pancakes.

Then it's time for a haircut. We look for a hairdresser who will cut my flowing hair to an acceptable length for the rest of the trip. We find one and the waiting time of over an hour is worth it. The hair is short and the ears are still there. After that, we walk through the city and realize that we have seen much more beautiful places in Ubud. Especially the main streets are very touristy and hectic. We like the small district of Penestanan, where our vacation rental is located, much better. It's quieter here, you see more locals than tourists, there are local warungs and the streets are decorated with colorful decorations and not filled with ticket shops.

We spend the rest of the day at the pool, reading and enjoying the beautiful weather.
