We had lunch directly at the harbor. Simply beautiful there. Many boats and a really nice promenade. The kids then got a milkshake and then we went to the second part of the large parks. But this time we were smart and took bikes. You can rent them and there is a station at every attraction where you can drop them off and then rent a new one. Works great and for $8 per person per day it's also really cheap. We could ride up close to everything and dip our feet in the water or just park in the shade and have a drink. Every few meters there is a drinking fountain with delicious water and it's all for free. Mega cool!
This time we started at the Washington Monument, took a break at the World War II Memorial, and then rode along the Memorial Reflecting Pool to end up at the Lincoln Memorial. Along the way, there are so many statues and war memorials that you easily lose track. In any case, there is so much to learn and experience here that you can simply spend the whole day.
The bike ride back along the waterfront was really nice and also very fast. There was already a station for the bikes right across from the hotel and now we are exhausted, lying in the bathtub and winding down. Today it was 32 degrees and we are really tired, but one thing is clear, Washington is beautiful.
