Outside Top; Inside Flop

Rakabudiswa: 25.07.2022

After a late breakfast with toast without crust (we had to buy and test it πŸ˜‚πŸž), we started exploring the city. Kevin and his family praised Florence so much, the expectations were high πŸ™ƒ

The tram πŸš‹ was not far away and we were able to buy tickets directly there. Luckily, it was a proper machine where you could see what you are buying, unlike before where you just held your card randomly. Here, the usual tickets are 90 minutes for €1.50. So we bought four, two for each of us for the round trip 😌

First, we visited the Medici Chapel, which contains all the graves and stuff β›ͺοΈβš°οΈπŸ’€βš±οΈ We only realized that later, but it was still cool and impressive. In the past, rich people used to treat themselves to such huge churches for their dead. Nice πŸ€‘ The many glass containers with bone parts inside were just strange though πŸ˜…πŸ¦΄

Since we are EU citizens between 18 and 25 years old, we only paid €2 for admission. We have done that before, great idea. But the €9 ticket would definitely not work for us πŸ˜‚πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Then we headed towards the Florence Cathedral. Wooow 😲😍 This facade is really impressive and different. After walking around it once and doing some T-shirt shopping, the line wasn't that long anymore so we joined it. I don't know what's always going on there, but all the churches that look amazing from the outside are rather disappointing inside. It's the same the other way around. So maybe we should visit the inconspicuous ones instead? πŸ˜‚ But anyway, it was free admission and we didn't have to wait for too long. We skipped the dome and the bell tower due to the cost (€30 per person) and probably a similar view as everywhere else πŸ‘€πŸ’Έ

While waiting in line, we already ate our healthy snacks πŸ‡πŸ₯’πŸ«‘ but we were still hungry. It was already 2 pm. During our walk around the cathedral, we spotted something and went there. They had the special menu, which was a plate full of salad, a piece of lasagna, two bruschetta breads, and some oven-roasted potatoes. It was delicious πŸ˜‹

After refueling, we looked at various buildings from the outside and for the end of the first day, we visited the Galileo Museum. There was a lot about the past advancements in medicine βš•οΈ, electricity ⚑️, and surveying πŸ“πŸ“ (the world πŸ—Ί). The highlight was Galileo Galilei's middle finger πŸ–•πŸΌ It would have been cool if they focused more on the person, and for €10 per person, it was quite expensive for what you get πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

We took an expensive fruit juice πŸ₯€πŸ₯€ and made our way to the train station to go back home. There's a supermarket right next to the station, so we bought some things for dinner πŸ›’

We're having leftovers, pasta with salmon-mushroom cream sauce and the leftovers from Megges. It was good 😌

Later, we watched a bit of 'Umbrella Academy' β˜‚οΈ and went to sleep 😴

PS.: Of course, I also found the Flying Tiger right away and went into both stores. In the first one, I got a college notebook, I need it for my uni stuff, this tablet keyboard is not that nice. And in the second store, I got a Coke and a Fanta πŸ˜‹πŸ™ˆ
