Farewell in St. Lucia and Arrival in La Sagesse

Rakabudiswa: 01.01.2017

First of all, we wish you all a Happy New Year!

Just like the year, our St. Lucia trip also came to an end yesterday. After a leisurely breakfast at Thor's place, we made our way through the mountains towards the south to reach the international airport. One last time, we were incredibly impressed by the landscape and the unimaginable greenery dotted with houses in the brightest colors. At the airport, we returned the rental car and after some waiting, we boarded our flight on time. As this was the first daylight flight in the Caribbean, we had spectacular views of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, which we will sail through at the end of our vacation, as well as Grenada's sister island Carriacaou and of course Grenada itself, whose entire west coast we could admire during the approach. After all the immigration and customs controls, Mr. Boney, a staff member of our hotel, received us and took us to the hotel. It is indeed as dreamy as in the pictures. Since due to the climate here, many windows have mosquito nets instead of glass, we have an unobstructed view of the beach from bed height through the palm trees to the roaring sea. In the evening, the palm trees are beautifully illuminated and the restaurant is top notch. The people here really know how to handle spices. There are the most amazing combinations that are all very, very delicious. Grenada is especially known as the Spice Island, and so today we had French Toast with fresh fruit (no idea what, but it was very tasty) and Nutmeg syrup for breakfast. Here you can find everything made from nutmeg: syrup, jam, spice, probably also healing salve. It is the national symbol and actually recommended in all the varieties we have tested so far without reservation. By the way, the coffee here is also seasoned with cinnamon and probably a bit of cocoa bean and nutmeg, which also tastes very good (to bring up the topic of spices again: the omnipresent rum punch is also flavored with numerous spicy and sweet, undefined spices).

In addition to this spiced experience, today we mainly made acquaintance with the idyllic, peaceful, magnificent beach where we devoured books and simply chilled. The water here is a bit wavier due to the bay's almost towards the Atlantic inclination and therefore not suitable for snorkeling, but you can walk far into the water and even cool down (the water is at least 28 degrees). Just before sunset, our peaceful day was momentarily interrupted by a baptism ceremony. About ten Grenadians in liturgical robes passed us singing gospel songs with a bell and a wooden cross and held a baptism in the ocean at the end of the beach. An exciting story. Now we are getting ready for dinner and we'll see what delicious treats await us today.

Da möchte man direkt als blinder Passagier dabei sein, klingt nach bombastischem Urlaub

So eine große Meerbadewanne könnte ich auch gut genießen
