Sydney!!!!

Rakabudiswa: 19.04.2018

On April 10th, we finally arrived in Sydney... or rather, drove through it.

In the middle of rush hour traffic.... Thank God I had convinced the motorhome rental company to include the Toll Package, so we were able to use the paid tunnel in Sydney, and it was relatively empty....

Our campsite was located in a suburb north of Sydney. I spent a long time looking for a place that was easy to reach Sydney from and met our daughter's requirements as well...

Did everything right

And we were also satisfied.

Right by the beach

With a magnificent sunrise at the beach pool

The waves were breaking there.....😍

Awesome

The next morning, we went to Woolworths to get each of us an Opal card. It's the easiest way to pay for public transportation here. You simply load credit onto it and then tap it on the machines on the bus, train, or ferry when getting on and off.... because everything here has its own fare, some buses are prepaid only, so you can only ride if you already have a ticket.... it's all very complicated.... without the Opal card....

But we now had 2, children under 4 ride for free :-)

On the first day, we wanted to go to the zoo.... they say it's great in Sydney and they even have platypuses.... So I booked a combo ticket online with the zoo and 2 days of hop on hop off ferry. But we had to pick up the tickets at Circular Quay, even though it would have been shorter to go directly to the zoo.... but whatever.... we're already taking our first ferry ride. But first, we took the bus to the city, which went smoothly.... then a short walk to Circular Quay and off we go.

Here we go
Riding the bus was a big highlight for Motte
Circular Quay with a cruise ship anchored....

The best way to sightsee in 30 degrees.... by ferry

The next highlight followed immediately.... riding a cable car over the zoo with a magnificent view of Sydney....

The giraffes have the best spot

The sure want to see that....

Motte was more interested in the fake animals....

That one was.... really huge.... and posed really well for the photo.....

There's a platypus swimming.... I at least got to see one.... but it wouldn't let me capture it in a photo.... the platypus, which is actually small, was very quick, and it was dark in the cave too....

We know them wild as well....

Then we went back, this time by bus.

The next day was all about sightseeing.... in 34-degree heat.... should we really do this? With 2 small children? But we're already here.....
So let's go.....
This time by bus to Manly, a famous suburb of Sydney with beautiful beaches and....
a ferry terminal..... this time we're using our hop on hop off ticket to go to the city..... at least there's a bit of a breeze on the ferry :-)

But before that, we got ourselves something to eat and freshened up briefly....

Well, if the kid doesn't want to.... I thought it was great...
And then we started....

Happiness
But the destination wasn't Circular Quay, it was Barangaroo (part of Darling Harbour)....

Well that's perfect, then we'll just go to Darling Quarter.... apparently the most beautiful playground with water play in Australia is there...... and now it was too hot for sightseeing anyway....

Motte had fun for sure
.....always a good idea....
Mama also got her shopping fix....;-)
And even Mini-Maus could stretch out....

When the sun had lost some of its strength, we naturally wanted to go to the Opera House....
But it was still too hot.... so back on the ferry ;-)

Kick back and relax
Let the wind blow through your hair....:-)
And strike a pose in front of the Opera House....;-)

Of course, we got off and walked there....

Through "Little Manhattan" back to the bus....

And eventually, enough is enough....
And eventually, enough is enough....
