Friday I took the bus from Tulum to Merida and my start to the city wasn't the best. For one thing, I felt the need to go home all day. The skydive was like the culmination of the trip and I felt like I was done, that I was now ready to fly home. On the other hand, I had forgotten that I had booked a hostel room. And although advertised as air conditioned, the AC wasn't turned on until 9pm. And this in a city that greeted me with a relaxed 38 degrees in the shade, where the wind was so hot that it was difficult for me to breathe. Great. Then there was the fact that my stomach wasn't in a good mood. I can rarely be sure that my food is really 100% vegan and it feels like even small doses of lactose are poison for my digestive system. All of this led to 1 1/2 really crappy days until I changed hotels (because I really couldn't stand it in the hostel in the heat) and my stomach calmed down again with no food. Sleeping, reading Taylor Swift excessively (yes even more than usual) and feel-good books helped my mood. This morning I was feeling well again and found a really nice little *vegan* café and had a very good breakfast. I was accompanied by the in-house Mini Schnauzer, who was incredibly cute and was *so* happy to be greeted. The city itself is really beautiful, it's a lot of fun to walk through the streets and the people are very friendly. So today I'm spending a nice last day here and then tomorrow I'm off to my last travel destination, Cancun. And then I go home to my terrier. When we're on the phone and I call him, he tilts his head as if he's listening to my voice and wondering where I am., Heartbreaking. Love of my life.
