Relaxing at the beach

Rakabudiswa: 15.10.2018

Hello dear friends!

Another month has passed, and for those who haven't heard yet, we are back home=)

So much has happened in the last few weeks that I haven't had the chance to finish our blog. Even Jonas wrote the last two entries while we were still in Sri Lanka. But I don't want to keep them from you, so here are Jonas' posts and the last pictures, followed by some details about our journey home=)

From Jonas:

After our safari, we took a taxi to Mirissa. We shared the taxi with the German couple who were staying at the same hotel as us. On the way, the driver even showed us a cinnamon bush.

In Mirissa, we initially booked a room for only one night. Since it was far from the beach and not very comfortable, we decided to look for another one. So we went from hotel to hotel, checked out the rooms, and compared prices. In the end, we found a room not far from the beach and booked it for the next three nights.

The beach wasn't very wide, but it was nice with plenty of options for eating and drinking. We could use the beach chairs for free if we ordered something, which we planned on doing anyway. So we spent every day lying on the beach chairs and sunbathing.

In the evenings, the beach chairs were replaced with tables and there was fresh fish. For 5€, you could get a large fish with sides. It was so delicious that we treated ourselves to it for two evenings in a row.

When our sunscreen ran out, we bought a new one at the supermarket on the corner... the cheapest one, of course... Bad idea! After applying it, I was white, but unfortunately, that was the only effect this "sunscreen" had. Even though I spent most of the time under the umbrella, I still got sunburned... very badly. At first, I thought it was because it wasn't waterproof and it washed off while swimming. But even after applying 2kg of sunscreen and getting redder and redder, we decided to flee and bought the Nivea sunscreen that was twice as expensive. We also got an after sun lotion. "You get what you pay for." Once again, I saved on the wrong end.
