Next day, we walk from our accommodation to Goran's apartment, where he has prepared us a lovely breakfast. Afterwards, an insightful tour of Skopje follows, where Goran explains his city with all its special features. The heavily guarded NATO base, the zoo, the government district with its various embassies, museums, Orthodox churches and mosques, restaurants, monuments, and the impressive Alexander statue, as well as parks currently preparing for an international tennis tournament and the old town with its urban alleys are all included. The historical development of the region is also vividly conveyed to us. After enjoying about 40 cevapi and a following afternoon nap, we head back to the old town to enjoy the evening atmosphere. A restaurant that we certainly wouldn’t have visited on our own is a true delight. In a courtyard, we are served while musicians play traditional, local songs, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
