We arrived at our campsite around 4 p.m. and immediately started setting up our camp. We set up eight large and very good tents, and in general, our guides are super well-equipped and know what they're doing. Except for one other couple, we had the campsite to ourselves. At around 5 p.m., we started our hike up the Waterberg, which was partly more like a climbing tour. The view from the top was fantastic, and I love being able to look so far into the distance. Unfortunately, shortly after we started, it started to cloud over, so from above we looked out onto a black storm front and a not too distant thunderstorm. That's why we decided to turn back early, which was a very good decision. 10 minutes before we reached the camp, it started to rain heavily. Luckily, the guides who stayed at the camp closed our tents. We all quickly jumped in the shower before enjoying a very delicious dinner. It's crazy what the guides can conjure up despite the rain and camping equipment. After dinner, we all went to bed very early, as we had to get up again at 6 a.m. this morning. Unfortunately, I slept very poorly because I kept waking up due to the heat and heavy rain. However, since we only have a long drive of 620 km to Rundu today, the lack of sleep is not too bad. After packing up the tents and having a quick breakfast, we continued at 8 a.m., 30 minutes late. As about 1/3 of the route is "gravel road," we have a long day of driving ahead of us.
Since I only had my camera with me yesterday, I can't show you any photos yet, but I'll catch up on that later. 😊
