Will be used for the journey home. Yesterday we spent another day at Lake Garda. We visited an olive oil museum and of course stocked up on a few things there. Then we went at a snail's pace to Malcesine to look for a parking space. That was really difficult, but we managed it after some nice people quickly blocked the road so that several buses could maneuver.
Malcesine was pretty full, but you could still feel its charm. We treated ourselves to lunch at the harbor and enjoyed some more delicious spaghetti, including an aperitif for me and a water for Andi as the driver. After that we went back to the motorhome pretty quickly, including an ice cream for the final part, and then quickly said goodbye to Lake Garda in the direction of the motorway. I had just said that we had never gotten through so quickly, when we were unfortunately on the access road from the motorway to Lake Garda. There must have been a pretty loud crash just a few meters in front of us. The road was completely closed. So we turned around and took the other route to get onto the motorway in Trento. When we arrived at Brenner, the road by Lake Garda was still closed. So we did everything right. We changed our route several times to find a parking space to spend the night, which turned out to be extremely difficult because there were lots of other people in the same situation as us and looking for a place. We found a parking space in Bad Aibling at the thermal baths and that was the second to last spot. So we stayed there overnight with a few campers and had a quiet, albeit cold, night.
Today we drove the remaining 350km home safely (we were very lucky, as there was a serious accident on the motorway next to us and there were a few other accidents too). We will empty the motorhome this afternoon so that we can return Bobby tomorrow.
Summary of the trip and a few things about the motorhome:
13 days in a motorhome for two was really nice.
Drove around 2700km.
Saw a lot and enjoyed delicious Italian food and ice cream.
Buying the outdoor carpet was a huge decision, even though it could have been a bit bigger.
The espresso maker was also the best decision for the camper.
Even in the supposedly low season, Italy/Tuscany is extremely full, and I'm not even talking about Lake Garda. Finding a parking space is a challenge.
You may remember my first post where the plan was to get there. Well, it wasn't fully followed, but that was clear and it's not a big deal. We can go back to the region.
