Hey there,
The morning greets us with 13° Celsius and rain. The fog hangs low in the surrounding mountains, giving the impression that it 'flows' around the mountain. Beautiful to behold. Aunt Weather Fairy has predicted a 100% chance of rain for today, and what can I say... Hats off, she knows her stuff.
So, we've slightly changed our plans and decided to head to Oban today. Oban is located on the west coast of Scotland and is considered the 'Gateway to the Islands,' the Inner and Outer Hebrides. Additionally, there is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland there. However, we skipped the distillery tour as we explored the Speyside on our last tour of Scotland, where we were able to participate in a tour of the Strathisla Distillery. So we already know how it goes... or how the whisky flows... whatever, pick your choice.
Back to Oban... We explored a bit at the harbor and then climbed the hill to McCaig's Tower. The McCaig's Tower is modeled after the Colosseum and overlooks Oban Bay from Battery Hill. It was commissioned in 1895 by John Stuart McCaig. It is considered a historical landmark, and you should definitely check it out because the view from up there is simply amazing. No sooner had we scrambled down the hill than it started pouring rain... even heavier than before. And this rain showed no signs of letting up, so we packed our things and headed back towards the hotel.
The crystal ball of the old Weather Fairy predicts better weather starting tomorrow, and Lovely Amanda agrees with her opinion. So if two ladies are on the same page, nothing can go wrong.
Hoping for better weather, I say see you tomorrow.
