When searching for the pictures for today's post, I had to choose between numerous pictures of rocks. However, each place was wonderful in its own way and I wouldn't want to miss any of it. So, sorry in advance if it seems monotonous to you ;-)
I spent the entire week at the Algarve, but on Saturday I left again. It was often too touristy for me, the few parking spots were crowded, often because of the winter visitors. They usually stay at one place for weeks or months.
Portugal only banned wild camping in the summer of 2021. Now the same rules apply as in Germany. That's why I think the infrastructure is still lacking a bit at the moment, because parking spaces are scarce and often far apart. It was definitely different in Spain.
On Tuesday, I went on a beautiful hike to the famous Benagil Cave on the cliffs. Unfortunately, you can't see much from above, but I saved the boat trip to the cave's beach. The path to the cave was wonderful and exhausting, but it was worth it.
On Thursday, I reached Sagres and the southwesternmost point of mainland Europe. In the past, people believed that the world ends here, because you can only see the ocean.
I spent wonderful days here with Rita and Hans-Peter. They are in their late fifties and are currently on sabbatical, traveling through Europe with their bimobil. The two run a YouTube channel (dieweltbereisen), they are a few months behind but they report here about their experiences.
Then I continued to the west coast heading north. First near Carrapateira and then near Brejao. Even though I have only been seeing cliffs, bays, and the ocean for a week, I still can't get enough of it.
