We had the fewest worries about the visa for Thailand, but it turned out to be a bit more complicated than we thought.
But let's start at the beginning:
We planned to apply for the visa on Monday morning, April 15th. According to reports on the internet, it can be picked up the afternoon of the following business day.
Unfortunately, we didn't realize that April 15th is a holiday in Vietnam, the Hung Kings Temple Festival. - This king founded the first Vietnamese kingdom over 1000 years ago, but it only lasted a short time.-
We had hoped that the embassy would still be open since it was a Vietnamese memorial day. Unfortunately, this wish did not come true and we stood in front of closed embassy doors.
So second attempt on Tuesday. The visa department was open and we were the only ones when we entered. Quickly filled out the form, attached the passport photos, pulled out the passport and had US dollars ready.
But it didn't work out with submitting the application. It is absolutely necessary to not only prove the departure from Thailand on paper, but also the outbound flight! Additionally, we have to show 40,000 Baht (around €1,150) as assets for our desired 60-day visa as a couple. Since we hadn't booked a flight yet, we couldn't present a ticket. We also didn't have a printout of the bank details with the required proof. So we had been on the road in vain again.
Today was the third attempt, after we had booked a flight in the meantime and organized a screenshot of our account. Fortunately, our hotel prints out these documents for us.
So third attempt. Now the names of our previous hotels in Vietnam before we travel to Thailand were missing on the application form. We still don't know both. Therefore, we gave the name of our current hotel and only the place of our arrival without specifying the hotel was accepted. We were able to submit the application.
Today we picked up the passports with the visa.
Everything is 'paletti'. We have a 60-day tourist visa and can enter between April 17th and July 16th!
