Tadaa! Now it was time again: My 4th trip to America began (of course with the Bee a.k.a sweetheart and honey #texas accent 😂). Although I had felt huge homesickness towards the end of my last stay, I knew that I wanted to come back. There is still sooooo much to see here and the American lifestyle still fascinates me (but after a few weeks it's enough 😁). So we already planned our trip again in December. Of course we flew with Swiss again - because you know what you're getting. Already when entering the plane, I always enjoy the noble-looking seats and I always look forward to the menus and the selection of movies. We sat in the second-to-last row, which had advantages and disadvantages: It was nice and peaceful, but during the meal distribution I often had no more choices, since everyone else was served before. So instead of the delicious-sounding 'chicken and pasta with lemon sauce' we only got gnocchi. But well, I eat everything (not like others, cough 😂) and also had Ebly salad (school memories), a bun, a sweet little portion of Tête-de-Moine cheese and a cake. Later we were spoiled with Mövenpick ice cream and before landing a Panzerotto was served. And finally the classic Swiss chocolate 😊
During the ten-hour flight I watched 'Downsizing' and 'The greatest Showman', slept a little, listened to music (you could create your own playlist, how cool!), read and had plenty of time again to reflect on my life and marvel at how much has changed since my last landing in the USA, which was only 370 days ago. And if I then compare it to Miami in 2014, the difference becomes even clearer! And so I was looking forward to the upcoming two weeks (stronger than ever 😀😀).
At 5:30 PM local time we landed and to our surprise, half of the cabin applauded, we hadn't experienced that for ages. 😂😂😂
Speaking of surprises: Since Swiss, as usual, had overbooked the flight, they would have offered us a whooping CHF 699, a hotel stay and dinner in Zurich if we had given up the flight and flown a day later. But since we were flying to the Bahamas the next day, that was of course out of the question for us. But what does Swiss do if no one volunteers? Are passengers forced to take another flight? Who decides that? Do they flip a coin or does someone go through the list and think, 'I particularly like your name, I choose you?' 😂This would have to be found out.
But back to the topic: The next highlight of USA trips is always the interview at immigration. What would they ask this time?
So we had to queue for ages and went together to the counter. Standard questions were asked, nothing out of the ordinary (how long we would stay, what we would do in Miami, how much money we would bring in, what we work, if we had ever been there before, etc... The whole waiting time had taken so long that our suitcases had already been removed from the luggage belt and were waiting next to it. Two hours after landing we could finally take the Uber to the Hilton hotel, where we - surprise - had to wait for about 15 minutes again, because the lady at the reception couldn't deal with my voucher card that I had received last year. We only stayed in the hotel briefly, got hungry and went in search of a restaurant within 10 minutes walking distance and found the most delicious pizza of the century at Pizza Hut 😁😁😁 yummy! After that we fell into bed dead tired. Tomorrow we continue early, we will fly to the Bahamas at 11 AM ⛱️⛱️⛱️
