Tag 50 - Arrival in Berlin and chance encounter with "Berlin, Tag & Nacht" actors

Objavljeno: 21.05.2019

Hello everyone!

Today started off pretty hectic...

Kevin started repairing the shower right after waking up. At first, it wasn't watertight again and since it's hard to access the drain, it was really tedious work... He dismantled everything again and finally managed to make it watertight. Now the water even drains better than before! Satisfied, we took a shower and then set off to Berlin after eating.

We thought we were pretty far away, but it turned out to be a mistake. It takes about 15 minutes by car to get to Berlin Mitte, but we are staying in a cozy, quiet park.

Once we arrived, we immediately set off: There are electric scooters everywhere in Berlin, and if you have the app installed on your phone, you can spontaneously rent them. So we took one of those scooters right away. There was one nearby, about a 30-minute walk from our place, so we walked there.

When we arrived at the scooter, everything was easy and it worked right away - although there was only one helmet. We drove back to our camper, fortunately we had two helmets with us.

Then we were ready to go: We took a little sightseeing tour of the filming locations of our favorite TV series "Berlin Tag&Nacht". We started at the houseboat, drove past Matrix, and then wanted to have a drink at the bar "LA14". As soon as we arrived, Kevin noticed an unusually large gathering of people. I thought it was normal, after all, we're not the only ones who want to have a drink at the bar from the show. When we arrived there, we saw Alina, Paula, and Jannis from the TV series. It was kind of surreal! You could tell that we knew who they were and we've seen them on TV so many times, and of course, they had no idea who we are :).

I asked shyly if we could have a drink even though they were there. Alina explained to us that it's not a real bar, but just a set. Unfortunately, they couldn't take a picture, as they're not allowed to do that in makeup on set. Paula seemed really nice and had a genuinely sweet smile on her face. Jannis and Alina seemed visibly annoyed by the fans.

We continued our scooter ride, but couldn't resist taking a photo when we passed by them :)).

So we found another bar, had a glass of wine together there, and talked about what we experienced :).

It started to get pretty cold over time, so we "went home". With the mindset of "as a tourist, you can do anything", we overtook on the right and left and took a shortcut through the park, where only bicycles are allowed. At the end of the path, we saw them already: the police! Kevin told me to turn around, but we were already there and they waved us out. To be honest, the police officers were incredibly polite and asked us with a smile on their faces if we knew what we did wrong. With an embarrassed smile, I asked, "Driving ban?" It turned out that the no-entry sign started just about 10 meters ago and ended another 10 meters later. We said that we would, of course, push the scooter that distance. The policeman then asked, grinning, if I even had a driver's license. Proudly, I replied, "Of course I do, do you want to see it? Oh, do I even have it with me? Hmmmm... Yes! I have it here :D."

In the meantime, Kevin explained how cumbersome it was to register for the scooter and that the driver's license was also stored in our account. With visible amusement, the two police officers let us pass.

When we arrived at the camper, we drove both vehicles to the place where we could leave the scooter - so we'll have it with us again tomorrow. Unless someone else rents it in the meantime.

Berlin itself is a really great city, although we haven't seen much of it yet.

Some parts are quite run-down, but still have the charm of an old town. Everything is very colorful and the people are as different as they could possibly be.

Tomorrow, we would like to take a classic "hop-on, hop-off" bus tour and see the real sights of Berlin.

We'll keep you updated ;).

See you tomorrow!
