The weather today is absolutely perfect for a motorcycle trip. In the morning, it starts at 15 degrees and it is predicted to be 21 degrees in the evening. All warm and windproof covers go into the luggage. With the now light jacket, I feel almost like in a T-shirt, so light and free. The destination for today is Trondheim.
We start with a ride through narrow streets and take a ferry shortly after. That's when I see a driving school motorcycle for the first time. The instructor sits as a passenger on the first rides and has a separate pair of clutch and brake levers there. Crazy 😅. But that's how you learn what it's like with a passenger. I don't know that yet.
Hildegard must of course also be mentioned briefly now. The strong smell of exhaust from Bergen is gone, as are any previous background noises. Wonderful!!
The two of us relied on the Calimoto app today and follow their recommendations on road 65 and many of its side roads. We have the mountain landscape of Trollheimen to our right. Few vehicles are on the road, often the road is single lane with passing places on the right or left, the asphalt is sometimes cracked and curved. But everything is still good to drive. Many farms are located along the route, and in the sunshine, it all looks so idyllic.
We make a stop at a red church. Churches here are almost always connected to a cemetery and are not necessarily located in a village. Often several villages/farms share a cemetery plus church. The cemetery discovered today is very old and was already used for burial purposes by the Vikings.
Old farms come into view again and again, some decayed, some used as museums. I stop at a ski museum in Rindal. An interesting exhibition awaits me about Landsem Ski and some very successful Norwegian skiers. Although almost everything is labeled in Norwegian, a lot explains itself. Next to it is a lake with a diving tower and cheerful swimmers. I found that surprising for the rather cool area, but then quickly reminded me of the outdoor pools in the Thuringian Forest ...
About 200 km after the start, I reach the city of Trondheim during rush hour. Fortunately, most people are driving out to the countryside 😃
In Trondheim, I will stay for 2 nights. I enjoyed a first great overview of the city with the best view from a rotating tower restaurant. A wonderful end to another beautiful day of travel.
