Day trip to Santiago de Chile

Objavljeno: 15.01.2019

Since my boss had some business to take care of in Santiago, she offered me to go with her and explore the city.

So on that day, I explored Santiago on my own and went to Cerro (hill) San Cristobal, which is part of Parque Metropolitano. Unfortunately, the cable cars were closed that day, so I had to take a bus uphill. Once I reached the top, I walked straight to the 22m high statue of the Virgin Mary, from where you could have a panoramic view of Santiago while listening to church music. Besides the statue, there is only an amphitheater, a small church, and small bistros on this hill, so I didn't stay there for too long. I preferred to explore the rest of the hills in the park. Therefore, I started walking on foot instead of taking a bus downhill. However, this turned out to be a big mistake as there seemed to be no direct way there, and I accidentally took a downward path where I couldn't even turn. As a result, it took me a whole two hours to reach the bottom without seeing the other hills. Additionally, I ended up on a completely different side of Cerro San Cristóbal, so I took a taxi to get back to my starting point because I didn't want to waste any more time.

Afterwards, I walked through the streets of the neighborhoods Bellavista, Lastarria, and Paris y Londres because I lost interest in Parque Metropolitano. Later, when I met up with Soledad again, we went together to the 300-meter-high Gran Torre, the tallest building in South America, to do some shopping in its shopping center.
