21-12-19: Hike on Danco Island

Our next destination is Danco Island. We will have to sail all night. By the way, the sunset is at 23:20 and it doesn't get really dark. Sunrise is at 02:40. Whales will be spotted at 23:00. An incredible event. Two humpback whales hunting for krill. They show us their tail flukes and side fins multiple times. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of it. Everything is stored in our minds.

Today we reached Danco Island. Our path takes us to a small hill with a colony of Gentoo penguins. These little animals are truly admirable. The landscape around us is breathtaking once again. The evening departure is spectacular. The ship navigates its way around icebergs in the Gerlache Strait, and we admire the icebergs in the Errera Channel.

Our next destination tomorrow is Vernadsky Station, on the Argentine Islands, a Ukrainian research station, and of course, we are heading towards Christmas. The ship is getting more and more decorated and we are getting into the Christmas spirit.
