It's raining. That's why we sadly say goodbye to the perfect camping spot today and continue south. Our route takes us right past Dubrovnik, so naturally, we're going to check it out. Huge cruise ships await us at the entrance and we expect tourism. But: we've never seen anything like it. The city is small and surrounded by fortress walls, and inside there are countless tourists! The city itself is super beautiful and we stroll around, drink expensive coffee, and indulge in expensive ice cream. Along the way, we always try to catch the same view as from the city walls, but without paying the €35 admission fee (per person) for it. At some corners, we catch a few glimpses and even from above, the view is really great. But for us (especially with a baby), it's simply too crowded to linger for long.
On the way back to the bus, we catch sight of the impressive seaside fortifications from a fortress located outside. (Again, we don't pay the €10 admission fee per person, but only go up to the entrance - once again, we outsmarted the system 😄)
So our visit to Dubrovnik was only a few hours long, but beautiful, and we simply continue directly to Montenegro. A new chapter of our journey begins now!
As soon as we reach the border crossing, everything looks really different, and there's a bit of excitement during the passport control from the car. We've never experienced this before, we're only used to showing our passports at the airport. How wonderful it is with all these open borders!
We find a small parking space right by a bay, and our camper neighbors are grilling and listening to loud Balkan music. Awesome! We're looking forward to everything that lies ahead 😊
