Today we wanted to visit the two landmarks of Singapore, the Garden by the Bay and the Marina Bay Hotel.
But when we were about to leave, it started raining. However, it was only a short shower and we were able to set off 30 minutes later.
As we walked from the subway station, we saw the impressive building and the man-made garden immediately.
We made our way to the 'Super Trees'.
Impressive huge artificial trees that simulate a part of the ecosystem. They explain the different natural cycles, such as the water cycle.
After the Super Trees, we strolled through the garden for a while until we reached the Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome. These are two halls that showcase a region and its various plants and flowers.
In the Cloud Forest, we were greeted by a large artificial waterfall supported by the building, which created a mist in the hall.
The facility was beautifully made with countless flowers, plants, and statues.
The Flower Dome presents different regions with their plants and flowers. Once again, there were countless statues and Halloween decorations.
After the visit, we strolled through the garden again.
Then we went to the other side of the Marina Bay Hotel to have a closer look at the harbor basin.
On one side, there was this huge hotel with a luxury brand shopping mall and the uniquely designed Art-Science Museum, and on the other side, Downtown with its many skyscrapers.
We walked around the harbor basin once and even observed an otter that briefly came ashore.
One thing that stood out was how clean the whole city is and how the underpasses and pathways are beautifully decorated.
We also passed by a Merlion statue (half lion, half fish).
After the extensive walk, it was high time to have a drink. And where better to do that in Singapore than on the rooftop terrace of the Marine Bay Hotel. To access the rooftop, you have to pay a $20 entrance fee, but you get a drink voucher worth $20. We took the elevator up to the 52nd floor. The view from up here was truly amazing. It's definitely worth coming up here.
The hotel guests even have an infinity pool up here.
However, the hotel is a bit beyond our price range, with a night costing around 300 euros. Since we hoped to see the sunset from up here or at least admire the skyline at night, we sat down and ordered a drink. Looking at the menu, we quickly realized that our $20 voucher wouldn't get us very far. Beers cost around $16, and cocktails start at $23. So we enjoyed a gin and tonic, costing exactly $20, and waited until it got dark.
Unfortunately, there was no sunset because it was too cloudy, but all the lights that came on with the darkness were impressive.
At 8 pm, we went down to the Marina Sand Bay, as there was supposed to be a water light show. And there was, and what a show it was. I had never seen anything like it. Very impressive.
After the 15-minute show, we strolled through the harbor basin and over to the Garden by the Bay to see it at night.
