Hello from Kona Airport,
After five days, I unfortunately have to leave this unique paradise again, now I'm heading to O'ahu, the capital Honolulu. Hawai'i was definitely the most diverse island I have ever visited, with indescribable nature and the happiest and friendliest people. The surroundings of the coastal roads change abruptly at regular intervals of 20 kilometers and alternate between lava fields, steppes, high mountains, and jungle. On Sunday, I was at a Black Sand Beach, the meeting point of the local hippies. They played music together and generously shared the fruits they brought. In the evening, I went to Mauna Kea, the highest mountain in the world measured from the ocean floor. From there, you could observe a unique sunset above the cloud cover. Unfortunately, I'm a terrible photographer, so I recommend doing a Google image search!
From the car rental, I received a map on which 'roads' are marked that cannot be driven with a rental car. These require all-wheel drive vehicles. By the way, this was the best guidebook because not only driving on these roads was incredibly fun, but often they led to the most beautiful spots.
This morning, I was at a dreamy secluded White Sand Beach, which was located at the end of one of these roads. Besides me, only a turtle and three anglers got lost there.
P.S.: There's only one thing I can't get used to here, the local cuisine. It's completely incomprehensible how the locals can all get so fat. And when I say all, I mean even the girls, dear Grandma 😉
Best regards
Felix
