Actually it would have been mostly a wasted day, one where you drive from A to B, eventually maybe even arriving at your destination and the day is basically history. However, today I had Ryan with me and the 4 girls. The 4 girls were 1 Polish, 1 Chinese, 1 Swedish and 1 German, including myself, we all had the same goal. We left Bajawa together and all wanted to go up to Moni. And Ryan didn't just drive the approximately 4 hours there, he made a leisurely trip out of it. I really liked that.
The first stop he made was at the 'Blue Stone Beach', a natural stone beach with blue stones (as the name suggests) just before the city of 'Ende'. We stayed at the beach for a good 90 minutes and took our lunch break there. I had a fresh and delicious meal, which was once again a poem. It was served with rice and vegetables and a fresh coconut. The next stop was Ende, where we first went to a supermarket, an ATM, and one of the girls needed a pharmacy, so we went there as well. We dropped off the Swedish girl at a hostel. And the rest of us continued our journey. Now back into the mountains with several stops at beautiful rice terraces. Finally, we made a detour to a traditional village where we could admire a beautiful sunset. Only in the evening, after 10 hours of driving, did we reach our destination Moni.
The next day, after breakfast, I let myself be driven up to Mount Kelimutu by scooter. From the parking lot, it was only a short walk up to the top. There, 3 super beautiful crater lakes and a monkey awaited me, who once again tried to steal my water but this time he didn't succeed because I was faster. Afterwards, I hiked back down to the valley to Moni with an intermediate destination, a waterfall. Which was unspectacular. Firstly, it was small and secondly, not suitable for swimming. So, I headed back to my homestay, where I finally arrived after a total of 12 km of walking. I spent the evening relaxing in the really beautiful 'Selfmade' wooden bungalow homestay, enjoying delicious Indonesian home-cooked dinner.
