23rd Day - Piu the good spirit from "The Cove"

Piu is the good spirit of our quarter. She reads every wish from our eyes. She manages everything when we need a taxi boat or a massage. Every food and drink request is possible. Piu is always in a good mood and ready for jokes. She is from Myanmar and paints her face with a Burmese make-up like the Karen women. This is a yellowish-white paste made from finely grated various tree barks, e.g. from the bark of the Indian apple tree or the orange root. In trade, you can either buy the paste ready ground or pieces of wood with a diameter of at least five centimeters, which are ground with a grinding stone and mixed with water to form a paste. The Thanaka paste is used by young and old as a natural cosmetic. It gives the face a fresh, youthful appearance, is supposed to protect against UV radiation from the sun, cool, combat skin aging, coughs and colds during illness, and have anti-inflammatory effects. Women and children usually rub their entire faces with Thanaka paste. Men only paint their cheeks with two points or two strokes and a thin line under their eyes. Of course, we have obtained such a powder and will try it at home, it can't hurt.
