Yesterday we were able to go on our planned hike in beautiful weather. Beautiful weather means for me; not too cold and not too sunny. On the way there, we were accompanied by two former Berliners from Bonn, with whom we had a nice conversation. 2 1/2 hours down and up the cliff ... it was almost like crossing the Alps. I can already say in advance: I was well exhausted in the evening.
We noticed the number of people clearly as we got closer to Étretat. And suddenly they were all there, the little and big 'Lupins' (Lupin fans should recognize some motives again ;-)), the Asian tourist group, the friends of veiled bathing culture, Italians, Spaniards, of course French people and ... us. We strolled in amazement along the old half-timbered buildings, treated ourselves to a fine ice cream and diligently took photos of the needle in the sea, the sea and many other things, before we made our way back. Micha spontaneously jumped into the water in Yport for a short time. I made sure that nothing happened to him among the many algae...
After a delicious dinner and gaining strength, we went down to Yport again to listen to a French rock band and dance. It was a bit like guessing songs... this could now be Neil Young with a French accent, the ...?... hmm... judging by the music... 'Message in a bottle'... and didn't the Beatles actually sing that??? But young and old danced, clapped, cheered and sang along happily - it was a joy to watch them.
With a heavy heart, we said goodbye to Yport this morning to drive towards the yellow sandy beaches of the Côte Fleurie; Omaha Beach, landing beach of the US Navy, German bunkers and American military cemeteries. And plop ... there it was again ... my guilty conscience as a German. It will probably never completely go away.
On the way, you should visit the charming seaside resort of Trouville. We did it. There were beautiful villas for sale, because despite the holiday season, many windows were closed and the beach was surprisingly empty. But unfortunately, our budget couldn't afford it...
