Now I've been in Cape Town longer than I planned and it's still hard for me to move on. It was a very nice time in a great hostel where I met new people every day.
In the first few days, we explored the city and watched the sunset from Signal Hill. We also went on a wine tour in Stellenbosch and visited five different wineries, so it was a very fun day. :)
Our visit to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner for 16 years, was very impressive and shocking at the same time. Our guide was also imprisoned on Robben Island for five years and gave us a very realistic and deep insight into the daily life of a prisoner.
The boat trip to Robben Island (I'm dressed a bit too sporty because we originally planned to hike Table Mountain that day)
The prison area and our guide on Robben Island
Nelson Mandela's solitary cell
Community cells (for less serious crimes, e.g. when someone couldn't identify themselves)
After our visit to Robben Island, we hiked Lions Head. Cape Town really offers something for everyone, whether it's beaches, mountains or the city.
