Time out at the campground

Objavljeno: 17.11.2018

Day 86 | 15.11.2018 |

Hello everyone,

This morning we woke up halfway rested in Crystal Brook and set off south with Liu without having breakfast. We stopped at a gas station in the town of Snowtown for the first time after about half an hour. Here we found a hot shower waiting for us, which we didn't have at our campground. Feeling fresh and a little more awake, we continued on to the coastal town of Port Wakefield.

Our only planned stop was smaller than expected. The town consisted of a few houses and a campground and was located on a narrow stretch of sea. The nicely designed waterfront with its many picnic tables invited us to linger, and we unpacked all our things and had breakfast in the sun. Back on the coast, the temperatures are naturally not as high as in the Outback, but we felt that spring has finally arrived.

Since the small town didn't offer much besides the waterfront, we decided to continue driving to our campground for the night. The coast northwest of Adelaide doesn't have much to offer in terms of tourism, and we were looking forward to a relaxing day at the campground right on the beach.
During breakfast, we chatted with some nice and interested Australians again, and a long conversation with Tony from Melbourne and his wife delayed our departure.

Today, for a change, we encountered two silos on the highway, luckily always when the roads were wide enough.
We reached the free campground located right on the beach at 12 o'clock. Many campers of all ages had already settled in here with their caravans. We chose a nice spot for ourselves and took the afternoon slowly, as we were tired. We passed the time with crossword puzzles, naps, cooking, and games. At low tide, the sea had receded several hundred meters from the beach, and the deserted, somewhat dirty beach was not suitable for a walk. We briefly went to the beach to watch the sunset over the ocean and then retreated back to the camper, where we are now writing our reports before cuddling up in bed.
We have two more nights in our Liu, then we have to return our faithful companion after 3 months and over 8000 kilometers of driving in Adelaide.

Hugs,

Nina and Julimann
