Easter fire

Publikovaný: 31.03.2024

Easter 2024

Who would have thought? It is also possible to organize an Easter fire in Baden-Württemberg. Of course not like in Lower Saxony or in northern Germany in general. Of course, the entire community/city would have to be involved. Of course, the fire brigade, paramedics and all the security costs also have to be financed. So we still need a lot of volunteers to fry sausages, sell drinks, look after the dog and little people while the parents enjoy the fire and everything else.

Here, however, it is worth setting up a fire bowl in a small circle in the yard, turning on the grill, refining warm apple juice with mulled wine spices, and having mustard and rolls ready. And when all the smoke from lighting has gone, it will almost be like northern Germany. It's not just sausages that are grilled: stick bread is another variant that the connoisseurs have to take care of themselves. Simply wrap a piece of yeast dough around a freshly cut branch, slowly turn it over the embers and let it cook this way. When the good piece is finished, create a small opening and then fill it with marshmallow and small chocolate Easter eggs. Seems like a successful conclusion.

They say that once a year so much sweetness can also be delicious. I'm out of there because it's too sweet for me. But: Easter can come.

Easter Sunday

Easter has quietly come with the time change. Plus sunshine. It rained again during the night and washed the Sahara dust out of the air.

Because of the sunshine, I put on my hiking boots and set off for a short walk. The route led through Neureut, over the tram tracks and towards the Rhine. After all, the “SMALL BODENSEE” is also located here - but we didn't go around it. Definitely another day.

We then turned to Heidelburg to look at our apple trees. We bought a number of apple, quince and pear trees here a few years ago. This year we had to replace some; too sick and infected with bark fungus. The young trees have all set flowers and look quite good - well grown. Dandelions and Gundermann, daisies and celandine bloom among them. As soon as the grass is dry, the lawn mower will definitely be used.

Something particularly beautiful and interesting is right in the back corner under an old walnut tree: lots of beehives! There is a buzz in the air – simply wonderful. And we can definitely buy the honey. I'm just as excited about that as I am about the apple juice made from our own apples.

On the way home we passed an allotment area. Here the scarecrow had been replaced by a simple shirt, which had been hung on a pole. And blue bottles, vases, plates and the like had been laid out along the way. A slightly different type of decoration, but also worth seeing. At a turning loop for the tram there was a waiting tram in a different color than usual. Also an eye-catcher.
