Therapy narrative - psychological training in Lima

Last weekend I had the opportunity to participate in a training for psychologists and coaches on the ONG 'Las Semillas de Santa Teresa', for which I work here in Peru.

As I am studying psychology myself and plan to work in counseling and personal development in the future, I was able to meet some of my Peruvian 'colleagues' there and expand my vocabulary in my field of specialization.

The training covered the topics of narrative and solution-oriented brief therapy, which are components of the systemic school.

For me, this approach was a completely new perspective, as I have mostly worked with the so-called cognitive-behavioral methods.

During the training, we learned about the theory underlying narrative therapy, how to address existing problems, and how to find solutions using appropriate methods.

I was very pleased that I could follow the seminar very well in Spanish, even though some exercises that required a more extensive vocabulary presented challenges for me.

I will definitely be able to incorporate some of the methods I learned into my future psychological work. Furthermore, 'Las Semillas de Santa Teresa' gave me the opportunity to prepare for the following days by participating in the training, where I would start another part of my internship: working as a psychologist in a rehabilitation clinic for addiction disorders.

After an informative weekend and conversations with other psychologists and coaches during and outside the training, I am now ready to start my internship as a psychologist in Peru!
