My highlights in Río Blanco

Since I work and sleep in Río Blanco, I also spend most of my free time here. Due to the long distance from my workplace to tourist cities, it is rare for the residents of Río Blanco to visit them. However, I haven't been bored here so far and have spent my time besides reading letters from friends and family with various activities.

For example, last week I went horseback riding with our neighbor Andro. Aimlessly, we took the path along the Río Colorado river until we couldn't stand the scorching heat (36 degrees) anymore.

A day later, two Israelis I met at my hostel in Santiago arrived at a campsite not far from my workplace with a car they bought in Chile. We sat by the river, talked and shared our experiences. In the evening, we sat in front of their tent, drank some beer, and they played the guitar while singing in Hebrew. Unfortunately, we didn't have a campfire, but we lit a can of tuna fish that we later ate with toasts and tomatoes.

The rest of the week, I only interacted with my colleagues and our guests. Among them was a good friend of my boss, with whom we went to a Peruvian restaurant, where I even tried octopus, which tasted better than expected.

However, one of the less pleasant events of this week was that the screen of my phone broke from the inside and stopped working. So, I took it to the town of Los Andes for repair, which took 3 days and cost me around 80€. During this time, I unfortunately couldn't take any pictures of, for example, homemade empanadas.

I didn't experience anything more exciting this week, except that I attended a party with my boss's school friends since I had to work during the day. So far, my daily tasks have included preparing breakfast, serving our guests in the morning and evening, picking apricots from the trees, and assisting with cooking and washing dishes. Additionally, I am responsible for ensuring that the whole house is clean upon arrivals and that the rooms are cleaned up when guests depart. I also had to inspect, package, and vacuum pack walnuts from our own garden to be sold to guests alongside the homemade jam.
