After visiting the hottest valley ever, the Death Valley, with a "mild" temperature of 44 degrees Celsius (111 degrees Fahrenheit) at 10 o'clock in the morning, we took the direct route to the city of gamblers and sinners: Las Vegas.

Las Vegas now meant two relaxed days for us until our departure on 21.07. We didn't want to do much in the city because it wasn't our first time here and also because it was hotter in Vegas than in the Death Valley. We arrived here in the late afternoon and the car thermometer showed us 118 degrees... so we hung out in the well-air-conditioned hotel room. Same hotel as our first stay here three weeks ago. See our blog from 29.06.

In the morning after our arrival, just when we had made a plan for what we wanted to do that day, we received an email from Lufthansa/Eurowings that our flight on 21.07. had been cancelled. Oops, what's this all about???

The email stated that we should give Eurowings half an hour to make us an alternative offer. If we didn't receive any information after 30 minutes, we should contact the call center in Berlin to find a solution.

Great, that's not how we planned the morning. Now we have to get upset and wait for half an hour. Because we knew they wouldn't contact us within the 30 minutes, we took action ourselves.

Our call to Berlin was not kept waiting long, we got through quickly. The employee offered us two alternative flights. One via Denver and one via San Francisco. In principle, this was possible, but not if the turn-over was only 30 to 40 minutes. In this time, it is hardly possible to get from one aircraft to the next, let alone transfer the luggage. So we declined.

They then offered us the same connection that we had booked for 21.07., but two days later, on 23.07. That was acceptable for us. Regardless of that, we were disconnected twice during the phone call (with friendly employees!!) and always just before confirming that we wanted to book this flight on 23.07.

During the third call, we insisted that the booking be made directly before we were disconnected again shortly before.

That actually worked. The assurance that Lufthansa would cover all costs for the extended stay allowed us to accept the flight change without worries.

After that, we had to book our room for two additional days. No problem. And we also booked a car for those two days. We had to return our Kia K5 on 21.07.

We gladly accepted the gift and today we wandered a bit through the hotel facilities, the Wynn's, Venetian, the Forum at Caesars Palace, and the Bellagio. The paths from one hotel to the next under the sun were quite hot (100 degrees F = 38 degrees C).

We have great respect for the people who clean the green spaces or do other work outside. Mostly still wearing protective clothing... after 10 minutes, we would be soaking wet... 😊

But we have a nicely air-conditioned hotel room, again very spacious and comfortable. The only thing missing is a coffee machine. We make instant coffee with hot water from the tap. It doesn't taste good? Well, it works...

Oh well, now we hope that we won't receive another email from Eurowings tomorrow morning... we'll see...

Last photo: the "flip-flops" are worn out and no longer in use. We needed new ones.

Auch, wenn wir uns das Ende etwas anders vorgestellt hatten... Es gibt schlimmeres, als 2 weitere Tage in Las Vegas zu verbringen. Nur: 30grad kälter wäre gut...😜. Heute wieder 48°C 🥵
