Tag 29 - Twizel - Lake Tekapo - Lake Pukaki

Today we drove from Christchurch to Twizel. On the way we passed Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki and of course made stops there. The area is characterized by wasteland. Turquoise blue lakes appear out of nowhere, between green grass and trees. Snow-capped mountains loom on the horizon. We were able to enjoy all of this on a beautiful, sunny day. The world here is a bit surreal. Fantastically surreal! ☺️

I wanted to go to two Lord of the Rings filming locations (Edoras, Helms Klamm), but they are a bit too far away and the area is not that easy to access. A pity! But you can clearly see that the country can be assigned to Rohan 😁.

We really like the little holiday home in Twizel. Finally take care of yourself 😁. We are surrounded by trees and mountains on the edge of a small town.
