Day 16 Napier

Departure from the beautiful Lake Taupo, it was really great here, along the scenic State Highway 5 to Napier, a stopover at the Waipunga Falls.

After arriving in Napier, take a stroll through the so-called Art Deco City, the city center is designed in this style.

Visit to the New Zealand National Aquarium, with many colorful and exotic fish, penguins and a Kiwi House, unfortunately we didn't see any, they were probably all sleeping.

Afterwards to Ocean Beach, a beautiful beach with fine sand, also seems to be popular with the locals, was quite busy. On the way back, I had a premiere: a police alcohol check, I had never experienced that in Europe before.

In the evening, based on the recommendation of our hosts, we had a good meal in the harbor district, at the Thirsty Whale.
