Mount Eden 🌋

The first few days were spent on Working Holiday obligations! We now have a New Zealand phone number and a bank account. In the next few days, we will also receive our tax number (in 2018, the NZ tax return will come!!)

On the fourth day in Auckland, we ventured out of the city center, away from our beloved Queen Street.

We walked to Mount Eden (Maungawhau, "Mountain of the Whau Tree"). It is a dormant volcano (last erupted 27,000 years ago), with a grassy crater 50 meters deep atop its 196-meter summit.

Along Queen Street, to Victoria Street and we're already on Mount Eden Road. Apparently, New Zealand has invested a lot of money in road planning, the roads are well signposted and you can find everywhere!

Aside from many Chinese vans (lazybones), we hiked up the path to the mountain!

The view was beautiful but also very windy. From the mountain, you could see many famous buildings and the city from a bird's eye view is much more charming!

After a photoshoot with Diego, we headed back to the hostel - just in case the rain catches up with us! ☔
